About Us

The Recorder of Deeds is responsible for recording documents in two main areas: Real Estate and Uniform Commercial Code. Military Service Discharges are also recorded here.

Records Access

All documents except Military Service Discharges are public record and are readily available in the Office for you to view.

Records in this Office provide data about real estate transactions and historical perspective. Examples of these records include:

  • Deeds
  • Easements
  • Land plans
  • Mortgages
  • Releases
  • Restrictions
  • Road right-of-ways
  • Surveys

Electronic Access Index

It is the goal of this Office to provide electronic access to public records and public information. Our index and images are now available.

The index for most of our documents from 1950 to present is a free search. The images for most of our documents from 1950 to present are a pay-per-access service. An online Archive Viewer for Indexes for 1950 to 1974 for Deeds and Mortgages and the Plan Index from 1791 to 1988 and the Agreement Index from 1854 to 1949 are now available. The images are of the indexes that you use in the Recorder's office. This is a free index search. Document images are not available for these Indexes on the Archive viewer. Please use the Book & Page numbers and go to US Land Records for the images of the Deeds and Mortgages from 1950 to 1974 and Assignments from 1959 to 1975 and Agreements from 1854 to 1949.
