The Great Crossings Chapter and the Fort Necessity Chapters, NSDAR, and the Irwin Memorial Cemetery Association unveiled the Reuben Thorp(e) Revolutionary War Soldier and Commemorative Marker on July 7, 2024, 3 pm, at the Irwin Memorial Cemetery, 784 Farmington-Ohiopyle Road, Ohiopyle, PA  15470.

There were approximately 100 in attendance, including 27 descendants, who each placed a red rose, and seven Pennsylvania NSDAR chapters honored Reuben with a wreath.

Reuben’s served as a private, scout, spy, and minuteman.

The General Arthur St. Clair Chapter, SAR, and the AMVETS Post 103 Honor Guard provided the gun salute and taps.

We dedicated this marker to remember and honor Thorp’s role in our country’s path to liberty.  Without the sacrifices of soldiers and patriots like Reuben, we could not enjoy the freedoms we have today.
