[ARCHIVED] Fayette County Observes Bring Your Child To Work Day

Children participated in a full day of activities aimed at teaching them the essential functions of county government.

Fayette County observed National Bring Your Child to Work Day April 28, 2022, at the Fayette County Courthouse in Uniontown. 

 

Coordinated by the Human Resources Department, employees’ children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews participated in a day full of activities aimed at teaching them the essential functions of county government. The itinerary included: 

  • Mock job interviews, with children posing as both interviewers and prospective employees. 
  • A presentation from the Fayette County Board of Commissioners, during which three children acted out the roles of commissioners Dave Lohr, chairman; Vince Vicites and Scott Dunn. 
  • A recycling lesson and relay race with Recycling Coordinator/Stormwater Manager Sheila Shea and mascot Rascal the Recycling Raccoon. 
  • Speeches and handcuff demonstrations from Officer Robert Yatsko, Warden John Lenkey and Sheriff James Custer. 
  • A swearing-in demonstration and presentation by Clerk of Courts Tim Dye. 
  • A courthouse tour, in which various offices presented the children with treats. 
  • A visit to Judge Steve Leskinen’s courtroom. 
  • A presentation by District Attorney Rich Bower. 
  • Arts and crafts with the Buildings and Grounds Department, in which the children built planter kits donated by Uniontown Home Depot. 

 

Breakfast and lunch were provided by human resources.
