Mission Statement


Our mission is to assist in the recruitment, creation, retention, and reinvestment of resources and infrastructure; providing economic opportunities and quality of life improvements for Fayette County citizens.

Moving Fayette Forward

With a vision focused on future growth and development, the Fayette County Board of Commissioners established the Office of Economic Development in 2021. Its goal is to establish community connections and encourage partnership between all 42 Fayette County municipalities, affording greater advancement opportunities. 

Our Communities and Workforce

Business opportunities abound in Fayette County, which is known worldwide for its rich history and diverse economy. Covering 798 square miles, with a population of more than 128,000 residents, Fayette offers a high quality of life, relatively low cost of living, and close proximity to the City of Pittsburgh. It is also located within a few hours of most major cities in the Northeastern United States. 

Fayette County has an established workforce that can meet almost any business need, as well as a highly skilled, trainable labor force. Our citizens are poised to enter a myriad of industries at any time, such as engineering, programming, machining, assembly, food processing, carbon-fiber production, plant science, food production, agricultural work, manufacturing, tourism and much, much more.

We boast world-class medical access, with WVU Medicine - Uniontown Hospital, Penn Highlands Hospital, and a plethora of specialty, primary and urgent care offices, as well as ease of access to health care networks in Pittsburgh and Morgantown, West Virginia. Businesses looking to relocate to or expand in Fayette County will find pad-ready sites, available spec buildings, and business parks with plenty of room for growth. 

Fayette County hosts quality, mixed-use housing developments and senior housing in diverse neighborhoods. Educational opportunities are ample, with six public school districts, two career training centers, and renowned post-secondary schools - Penn State Fayette: The Eberly Campus and Laurel Business Institute.

The Economic Development Office is currently working to establish a central database of vacant land; commercial or industrial buildings; or other properties for sale, rent or development in Fayette County.
