Commissioner Harry “Dutch” Kaufman brings over five decades of business, professional, and civic leadership to his role as a full-time Commissioner of Fayette County. With a background in science, healthcare, and executive management, he is committed to delivering practical, results-oriented leadership to the residents and communities he serves.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Duquesne University, where he also pursued graduate-level studies in Endocrinology. He was named “Pharmacist of the Year” for the Northeastern United States by K-Mart Corporation, recognizing his leadership across hundreds of retail pharmacy operations.

As a former business owner, Harry brings extensive experience in budgeting, operations, staffing, and negotiations—skills that directly support efficient and responsible county governance. His community service includes 20 years on the Uniontown Area School Board, with a decade as president, where he helped shape educational policy and oversaw major fiscal decisions. He has also served as District Governor for Rotary International, representing seven counties across Southwestern Pennsylvania, leading regional service projects and encouraging cross-county collaboration.

Harry also shared his expertise in higher education as an adjunct professor for both Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh.

Locally, he has been an active board member for Another Way and Fayette Health Center, to name a few. He has also served as a chief collaborator in fundraising efforts for organizations such as Rotary International, Make-A-Wish, and the Uniontown YMCA.

Now serving as a full-time Commissioner, he is focused on transparency, fiscal discipline, and improving the quality of life across Fayette County.

He and his wife, Tammy, along with their children and grandchildren—Rebecca and Clay Taylor (Clara and Henry), and Harry Kaufman and Mallory McCune (Michael)—all reside in Fayette County.
